Cowboys bad-boy suspended again for alcohol-related violence. The former Tennessee Titans, now Dallas Cowboys player has a history of player code of conduct violations.
New York Times reports: By JUDY BATTISTA When they acquired him during the off-season, the Dallas Cowboys gambled that Adam Jones could straighten out his life and strengthen their secondary. Jones had a long track record of trouble, and had already been suspended for a full season by the N.F.L.
But his playing ability was intriguing, and the Cowboys were so determined to make the experiment work that they hired a 24-hour security detail to help keep him straight.
It did not work. On Tuesday, a week after Jones got into an alcohol-related scuffle with one of his security guards, he was suspended indefinitely by the N.F.L. for again violating the league’s personal-conduct policy. The suspension will last a minimum of four games, but the Cowboys’ owner, Jerry Jones, seemed resigned to the idea that Jones might not play again this season and perhaps never again for the Cowboys.
“Adam was on a very narrow window of behavior coming into the N.F.L., more so than any player we’ve had on the Cowboys,” Jerry Jones said at the owners’ meetings here. “He did not stay within that narrow range. I regret that it didn’t work for Adam and work for the Cowboys.” Full story here.
SkySports reports: The Cincinnati Bengals returned troubled wide receiver to their roster after sitting out four games with suspension.
Injury problems for the Bengals has forced them to bring back Henry for Sunday’s trip to Texas to face the Dallas Cowboys.
The 25-year-old sat out half of last season due to an NFL suspension for his off-field troubles, which have seen him arrested five times since being picked in the 2005 draft by Cincinnati.
Henry’s return has caused something of a rift in the club’s hierarchy with owner Mike Brown bringing the receiver in despite objections from coach Marvin Lewis.
The Bengals have released running back Kenny Watson to make room on their roster for Henry, who has impressed in practice enough to earn the chance to play at the Cowboys on Sunday. Full story here.
